PREAMBLE

Education is the veritable tool of development of every nation and its people. Allah- subuhannah watahalah - the creator of man and the entire universe - stressed in the  Noble Qur'an, the importance of literacy in the affairs of man, hence the first verse revealed to the noble Prophet of Islam, Mohammad - Rosulullah, (May the peace and blessings of Allah be unto him) deals with the commandment on literacy viz; "Read! In the name of thy Lord Who createth, Who createth man from a clot. Read; And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, Who teacheth by the pen, teacheth man that which he knew not". (Qur'an Chapter 96 Verses 1-5).

ILLITERACY IN THE MUSLIM WORLD

The Muslims form the majority of illiterates in many communities today and constitute the bulk of those living in the lower strata of the economy. This is traceable to the self-deprivation of many Muslims who avoided the Western education for fear of getting their children converted to Christianity by the Missionary educators. The lack of western education has since been a major cause of deprivation of the Muslims in economic and political arena in many countries, including Nigeria, where Muslims are in the majority. To safeguard the future of the Ummah, overcome the deprivations and still adhere to the tenets of Islam, we must provide our children comprehensive education integrated with our religious belief and kit them with the essential tools and skills for success in the contemporary world of science and technology.

PLIGHT OF THE NIGERIAN MUSLIMS

The public schools have not been able to fulfill the yearnings of parents due to population explosion and inadequate budget allocations year in year out. Educational facilities in urban centers such as Lagos seem overstretched due to rapid urbanization. In spite the combined efforts of both the Federal and state governments to tackle the challenge, the facilities remain grossly inadequate; hence, the private school owners, including the Missionaries, stepped in to bridge the gaps.
From a cursory survey of private schools, it is obvious that to every Muslim private school in most parts of Lagos, there are at least, 10 Christian oriented schools. Besides, many Muslim schools lack the facilities for quality instruction and learning. This further worsens the plight of the Muslim parents who wish to train their wards in organised Islamic environment as a way of indoctrinating them into the fold of Islam. This is the background that influenced the formation of Sadiyyah Model School, as a dawah effort, to improve the opportunities for concerned Muslims to have quality education for their children at reasonable cost.

The Schools appeal regularly to Philanthropists who shared the vision of the Schools to come to the aid of some of our students who have difficulty in paying their fees, especially, the very talented ones. Only students with genuine cases are considered.
